The Mitsubishi Pajero is a sport utility car manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. It was titled after Leopardus pajeros, the Pampas Cat which is native to the Patagonia plateau region of southern Argentina. However, since pajero is an offensive term for "wanker" in Spanish, substitute obloquy have been used for many markets overseas. It is known as the Mitsubishi Montero in Spain, India, and the Americas (excepting Brazil), and as Mitsubishi Shogun in the United Kingdom. Discontinued in the United Says in 2006, the car continues to sell well in the rest of the world in its fourth-generation guise.
The Pajero Evolution was introduced in October 1997, which was developed in response to new entry stipulations for the Paris – port Rally’s T3 Class. The Pajero Evolution came standard with a 3.5 liter 24-valve DOHC V6 with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing and Electronic Lift Control (MIVEC). A new, dual plenum variable intake helped increase power and a new suspension prefabricated the ride even smoother.

Der Mitsubishi Pajero ist ein Geländewagen der japanischen Mitsubishi Motors. Er war erstmals im Jahr 1983 weltweit erhältlich. Seither wurde der Wagen in vier Generationen gebaut (L040, V20, V60, V80). Sein Namensgeber ist eine Unterart der Pampaskatze (Oncifelis colocolo ssp. pajeros), die in unwegsamen Gebirgszügen Südamerikas lebt. Zu öffentlicher Berühmtheit kam der Pajero durch seine zahlreichen Erfolge bei der härtesten Motorsport-Rallye der Welt, der Rallye Paris-Dakar.
In Argentinien, Spanien und anderen spanischsprachigen Ländern sowie in Nordamerika hat der Pajero den Namen Montero, weil das spanische Wort pajero in der Vulgärsprache „Wichser“ bedeutet, was Mitsubishi erst zu spät festgestellt hatte. Im Vereinigten Königreich heißt das Modell Shogun.
Die erste Generation hatte das gleiche Chassis wie der Pickup L200 und der Kleinbus L300 und wurde später von Hyundai als Hyundai Galloper mit leichtem Facelift neu aufgelegt.
Schon in den 80ern arbeiteten Mitsubishi und Chrysler zusammen. In Amerika war der Pajero auch von Dodge erhältlich und hieß dann Dodge Raider.

This is a Mitsubishi L200 Pickup in the livery of Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden. That is the Water Board for the region around Utrecht. It is used for the service that controls the muskrats. Over here the muskrat is considered a pest because its burrowing causes alteration to the dikes and levees which might cause flooding.
